Milspec Retail started in 2014 as a home-based business. What began as a small operation quickly grew into something much bigger. We brought on staff, moved into our first office in Los Angeles in 2016, then into a warehouse in 2018, and again into a larger industrial space in 2020. In just a few short years, we grew from a two-person team into a company of ten.

Those years were driven by explosive growth in the industry. But as the market shifted, so did the path forward. Behind the scenes, we had been building something new. Emissary Development started quietly, but it didn’t stay that way for long. As retail became more challenging, Emissary gained massive momentum and proved itself as the future of our operation.

In the summer of 2024, we made the call. Milspec Retail would be phased out, and we would go all-in on Emissary.

Today, we are announcing the completion of our transition.

This decision was not made lightly. Milspec Retail is more than a business to us. It’s twelve years of work, risk, growth, and relationships. It’s the customers who trusted us, the team that built it, and the community that supported it.

To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you.
