Unlike the antiquated grip angle of the M16 meant to be used in prone, modern combat standing squared up with a plate carrier needs a more vertical angle. This grip not only provides the better angle it's also set back for the modern male - not the average ht/wt of a 1960's soldier. There's a reason why the smaller Vietnamese appreciated the grip then as their shorter fingers worked well with it, now we need more 'length of pull" to fit the larger hands of Americans compared to 50 years prior. And this was designed over ten years ago - newer designs are still missing the mark.
Great materials, good bang for the buck, appropriate girth, milspec attachment, screw provided.
